Expanding Our Reach
The B:Side Fund team has been hard at work increasing access to direct lending, grants, and program-related investments. For over a decade, we have helped small businesses in a variety of industries grow their business with affordable, responsible business loans. In 2023, we provided over $1.37M in loans to small businesses unable to obtain traditional financing. We continued our work with the Colorado Startup Loan Fund, in partnership with the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade, and completed the initial deployment of the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Colorado Revolving Loan Fund. As a 501(c)3, B:Side Fund has been able to re-imagine the lending system in a way that increases accessibility and promotes transparency. We created an intentional credit policy with flexible collateral requirements, converted to an online application, and built out a robust network of resources and referrals for small businesses. By streamlining our systems and utilizing powerful new technologies, we have set the foundation for more impactful direct lending in the future.
